The reign of music. Baroque in Parliament. Public hearings of Mozart and Mysliveček.
On Monday 4 March 2024, music reigned again in the Chamber of Deputies after many decades. For the MPs, the staff of the Chamber of Deputies and the general public we organised a concert by the Baroque orchestra Collegium 1704 under the direction of Václav Lukes. Soloists Simona Šaturová and Vojta Dyk sang arias that could have been performed in the same place two hundred and thirty years ago, when the Thun Palace was home to an Italian opera house.
The Rudolfinum was transformed several times from a concert hall to a parliament and back again. Thanks to the Public Hearing, for one day the meeting hall was returned to its original function, when the space resounded with beauty.
The concert was held as part of the Year of Czech Music and admission was free.
The event was held under the auspices of the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová.
